In today’s fast growing world of technology so few individuals have influenced the world in as big of a way as Susan Wojcicki. A Journey with Google

Susan Wojcicki started her journey into this industry in the late 1990s, where she joined Google as one of the very first staff members in the organization. At that time, Google was only a young dotcom developed by two young students from Stanford University, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. She evidently had no idea that this decision would pave the way for the start of one of the most dynamic women in technology.

Over the years, Susan’s position at Google changed, but she always remained an active participant in the company’s development. She enjoyed this aspect of her work when she became the Senior Vice President for ad products at Google, where she helped shape the company’s various advertising and analytics solutions. Google being powered by her leadership acquired YouTube in 2006, a decision that altered the face of online video streaming.

Leading YouTube

Subsequently, in 2014, the company was headed by Susan Wojcicki, who was appointed the chief executive officer of YouTube. She witnessed how the platform grew under her leadership to become the giant that exists today during some of its most arduous and dynamic years. Susan Horsburgh was not only as a defensive shield to the controversies but as well as a compass to lead the platform to new fortunes.

Her leadership was not only limited to corporate, it was an all rounded leadership. Some of them described Susan as friendly and as someone who was very much involved with being a team player. When she started to resign in 2023, she was giving up more than just a thriving company, she was giving up her principles of hard work, kindness, and innovation. Her decision to resign was due to family care, health, and personal business which made her understand that life continues after work.

A Personal Battle

However, Susan was a successful woman who lost life due to a personal problem. It was non-small cell lung cancer and she battled it for two years as she did her work and the career. There is not much information about the death of Susan, but her husband, Dennis Troper, expressed the great sorrow of the family saying that Susan was a loving wife and the mother of five children.

But Susan did not cease her aspiration in providing to the world even when she is ill, she gave to a lot of charities, she studied on the very disease that she is suffering from. However, she did not stop and went on improving human lives, proving that in addition to career achievements, she had a lot of strength.

Remembering Susan Wojcicki

The world lost Susan Wojcicki not only for her family and those close to her but also for all the representatives of the information technology industry. Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai and current YouTube CEO Neal Mohan also joined the list of people who mourn the loss while recognizing her efforts. Sundar Pichai stated she had been keen on charitable activities, while Neal Mohan described her as a mentor and colleague besides being a friend.

More so, the story of Susan Wojcicki is the story of a woman that dares, that challenges, and that creates change.
