According to a senior company official, the initiate of the store is to promote women’s talent in the automotive workforce and promote diversity, and inclusivity across the organization. Further added that as its female customer base is growing rapidly in the country, the brand wants to provide an ‘exclusive and confident environment’ specially for its women customers through this female-centric approach. With these changes, VW aims to encourage more women professionals to join and grow in the car retail space in India. The company has collaborated with Ramani Cars Pvt. Ltd. for this new initiative with an aim to focus on upskilling women employees for leadership roles.

Brand director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, Ashish Gupta said, “At Volkswagen, we strongly believe in the development of our ‘People’ and who other than women are the driving force of our business. Through this initiative of an All Women City Store in Coimbatore, it is our endeavor to champion women’s talent in the automotive workforce and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusivity across the organization,”

Operations in the store

The all-women city store will be operated by Ramani Cars Pvt. Ltd. It will be run by a workforce of 35+ women managing the end-to-end operations including sales, after-sales, customer care services, test drive management, housekeeping, security, and more.  It is located in Coimbatore at Sri Hari Building, Nava India, Avinashi Rd. It comprises a four-car display including Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus, Tiguan, etc.

Gupta added, “Women’s talent plays an integral role in building the future of the automotive industry and we are confident that these 35+ women through their efforts will take the automotive retail business to much greater heights,” In a separate development, Volkswagen has already delivered around 5,000 units of Virtus sedan in the country in two months since its launch. The sedan was introduced in June this year to the premium midsize segment. Volkswagen Virtus also holds records in the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records for being the only sedan to be delivered to most customers in a day. The Volkswagen Virtus is offered in two variants, the Dynamic and Performance Line. It comes in six color options. They are – Wild Cherry Red, Carbon Steel Grey, Curcuma Yellow, Reflex Silver, Candy White, and Rising Blue.
