Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles between July and September, beating analysts’ expectations of roughly 462,000 vehicles. While the figure was slightly below the 497,099 vehicles delivered during the same quarter last year, the stronger-than-expected performance offered a boost to the company after a prolonged period of weaker sales.

The Model 3 and Model Y remained the main drivers of Tesla’s vehicle business, accounting for the vast majority of deliveries. The company produced 464,391 vehicles during the quarter.

Tesla has faced growing pressure from established automakers and Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers, while demand has also been affected by changing consumer preferences and the loss of government incentives in some markets. The latest delivery figures suggest that demand for Tesla vehicles may be stabilizing.

The company’s performance in Europe also improved compared with earlier periods, helping support its global delivery numbers.

Tesla is now looking toward the final quarter of the year, when it will need to maintain momentum to improve its annual sales performance. Investors will also closely watch upcoming financial results for signs that stronger deliveries are translating into higher revenue and profitability.

Apple to Flag AI Requests for Mac Data After Meta’s Muse Draws Complaints

Apple is strengthening privacy protections on Mac computers as concerns grow over how artificial intelligence tools access users’ personal data.

The company plans to make warnings more prominent when AI applications request broad access to information stored on a Mac. The changes are expected to focus on Full Disk Access, a permission that allows applications to access large portions of a user’s files and other sensitive information.

The move comes after complaints surrounding Meta’s Muse, an AI agent designed to perform tasks on behalf of users. Concerns were raised after reports suggested the tool could access private messages and other information stored on a Mac under certain permission settings.

Meta has maintained that access to Messages is optional and requires users to enable specific permissions before the AI agent can retrieve that information.

Apple’s planned changes reflect a broader challenge facing the technology industry as AI agents become increasingly capable of interacting with files, applications and personal information. Traditional software typically requests access to specific data, while AI agents may need wider permissions to complete complex tasks.

The new warnings are intended to help users better understand what they are allowing an application to access before granting permission.

As AI becomes more deeply integrated into personal computers, Apple’s approach highlights the growing tension between making AI tools useful and protecting sensitive user information.

Anthropic Warns Government Attitudes Could Hurt Customer Ties and IPO Prospects

Anthropic has warned that changing government attitudes toward its artificial intelligence technology could affect customer relationships, business operations and its prospects as a publicly traded company.

The warning comes as the AI company prepares for a potential initial public offering and faces growing scrutiny from governments over the development and deployment of advanced AI systems.

In its IPO disclosures, Anthropic highlighted government actions and policies as potential risks to its business. The company said decisions involving AI regulation, national security and technology restrictions could influence how customers and partners view its products.

Anthropic also warned that government criticism or restrictions could create reputational challenges. Such developments could make some businesses more cautious about adopting its AI models, particularly customers operating in highly regulated industries or areas involving sensitive information.

The company’s concerns reflect the increasingly complicated relationship between major AI developers and governments. Companies developing advanced AI systems are facing pressure over issues including safety, national security, data protection and the potential misuse of AI technology.

For Anthropic, the risks could extend beyond government contracts. The company said government actions could indirectly affect commercial relationships, employees, investors and other stakeholders.

The disclosures offer potential investors a closer look at the risks surrounding Anthropic’s growth strategy as it considers entering public markets. The company’s ability to maintain customer confidence while navigating increasingly complex government expectations could become an important factor in its future expansion.

OpenAI Alerts More Than 100 Groups About Rogue AI Agent Activity

OpenAI has alerted more than 100 organizations and groups about suspicious activity involving rogue artificial intelligence agents, highlighting growing concerns over the misuse of increasingly autonomous AI systems.

The company identified cases in which AI agents were allegedly used to support potentially harmful operations. OpenAI shared information with affected organizations as part of efforts to help them identify threats, strengthen their defenses and prevent further misuse.

The incidents highlight a growing challenge for the technology industry. Modern AI agents can perform complex tasks with limited human involvement, including analyzing information, generating code, navigating software and coordinating multiple actions. While these capabilities can improve productivity, they can also be exploited by malicious actors.

OpenAI has been monitoring how its models are used in cyber-related activities and has taken action against accounts associated with suspicious behavior. The company has also emphasized information sharing as an important part of responding to emerging threats.

The latest warnings come as governments, technology companies and cybersecurity researchers increasingly focus on the potential risks posed by autonomous AI systems. Unlike traditional software tools, AI agents can adapt their actions and complete multiple stages of a task, potentially allowing harmful activity to be carried out more efficiently.

The alerts underline the growing need for stronger safeguards as AI agents become more capable. For businesses and organizations, the development also reinforces the importance of monitoring AI-related activity and preparing for new forms of cyber threats.
