Talking about the acquisition, Deepinder Goya, the CEO, and founder of Zomato said in a statement, “It is an early stage for the company for building up a future delivery system where users will expect the drone delivery for the food they order.”

As of now, the company is working on designing the multi-rotor drones. Multi-rotor drones can easily pick up a payload under 5kg along with setting up drone delivery circuits. Mr. Goyal further added that robots would be an inevitable part of the future.

The deal is going to help Zomato to set up its drone-based food delivery in the country. TeachEagle is a Lucknow-based startup that was founded 3 years ago by an IIT Kanpur Alumnus – Vikram Singh Meena. In May 2018, it tested its tea delivery system covering a distance of 10 km.

Zomato, as of now, has a presence in more than 50 Indian cities with 54k restaurants partners and 1.5 lakh delivery partners.
