Whatsapp will be receiving a new update that will introduce a host of new features that will put it in direct competition with the likes of Snapchat and Messenger.
The feature allows users to record a video or convert the existing ones in GIFs. Now, the latest beta version (2.16.264) of its Android app has been updated with two new features – selfie flash for capturing better photos in low light, and Snapchat-like feature to doodle on top of photos.
In order to try out WhatsApp’s new features, you need to register for the Google Play beta testing program for WhatsApp, and then download the latest build from the store. Then go to the Google Play Store app and search for the latest WhatsApp version in order to download and install the new features.
The company has actually rolled out a couple of updates in a short time period, v2.16.262 and v2.16.263 updates have been pushed to WhatsApp Beta within 24 hours.
WhatsApp is also reportedly working on introducing video calling, and support for gif image sharing, and looking to release them soon. Apart from the voicemail feature, WhatsApp recently brought bigger emojis, and the ability to zoom in and out when recording video via the app.
