Maruti Suzuki has launched the updated version of its popular MPV Ertiga. The 2018 Ertiga comes with a lot of design changes, new engine and more comfort in the cabin. Prices of the new Ertiga starts at ₹ 7.44 lakh and goes up to ₹ 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) with a list of total 10 variants in the lineup.
The front of the car looks fresh with the newly designed grille and all new headlamps with projector lens. The bumper is also revised to complement the new face. The new Ertiga has Aerodynamic Floating Roof that ends with black cuts on the D-Pillars. The new Volvo-like boomerang shaped taillamps try to make the MPV bigger than it actually is.
Ertiga is a family car so what matters the most lies inside the cabin. Getting to the third row is easier now with the one-touch fold and slide system. Reclining mechanism has also added in the 3rd-row seats for more comfort along with separate roof-mounted AC vents. The second-gen Ertiga offers a number of new intelligent utility features such as air-cooled cup holders, bottle holders and accessory socket in each row.
For the first row, the MPV offers dual tone interiors and a sculpted dashboard with maple wood finish and chrome accents. The dash hosts Smart Play infotainment system with a 17.8 cm touch display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link connectivity.
Under the hood, the 2018 Ertiga gets the same diesel engine and the new K15 Petrol engine with Progressive Smart Hybrid Technology with Lithium-ion battery. Maruti claims the new engine brings 13% more power and 6% improved torque output than the old engine.
Maruti Suzuki and suppliers have invested over Rs 900 crores towards the development of the next-gen Ertiga. In the Indian market, the MPV will take on the competitors like the Renault Lodgy, Tata Hexa and recently launched Mahindra Marazzo.
