Mercedes-Benz India has added a petrol variant in the lineup of its mid-range luxury sedan C-Class. The new variant C200 Progressive is priced at ₹ 43.46 Lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The new C200 Progressive is powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 181 bhp at 5,800-6,100 rpm and makes 280 Nm of peak torque at 3,000-4,000 rpm. The engine also gets a mild-hybrid technology what Mercedes calls ‘EQ Boost’ which contains a 48-volt electric motor paired with the engine adding an extra 16 bhp and 160 Nm of torque. The powertrain comes paired with the familiar 9G Tronic automatic transmission unit.
Earlier in September, Mercedes-Benz launched the new C-Class in India but with diesel engine only. The diesel variants of the sedan C 220d Prime, C 220d Progressive and C 300d AMG Line are priced at ₹ 40 Lakh, ₹ 44.25 lakh and ₹ 48.50 lakh respectively (all ex-showroom, India).
The exterior of the new C-Class doesn’t differ much from its predecessor except some minor changes like the addition of LED headlamps with DRLs, slightly revised front and rear bumpers and a new set of alloy wheels. The sedan will also get a new silver shade on offer.
Inside, the new C-class comes with a new-design steering wheel that borrows the dual touchpad control system from the higher models like the E-class and S-class facelift. It also comes with a 10.25-inch high-resolution screen for with COMAND infotainment system.
Mercedes has also launched the new C-Class Cabriolet which is available at ₹ 65.25 Lakh (ex-showroom, India).
