After launching the Cayenne Turbo earlier this year, Porsche has added two entry level variants in the SUV’s lineup for the India market. Out of the two, the Base variant starts at ₹ 1.19 Crore and the E-Hybrid variant is priced at ₹ 1.58 Crore. Just FYI, the Cayenne Turbo costs ₹ 1.92 Crore (all ex-showroom, India).

The new Cayenne is underpinned on the Volkswagen Group’s MLB-Evo platform, same as the other luxury SUVs from the VW family, the Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus. The new Cayenne is longer, wider lighter than its predecessor. Porsche says the extensive use of aluminium in the construction has helped the SUV to lose about 64kg of weight.

The new Cayenne gets design cues from the Panamera such as the front grille, bumper and the four point DRLs. It also gets the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PLDS). Overall the SUV looks sharper and well-finished with pretty much the same silhouette as the old Cayenne. The cabin of the Cayenne is feature-rich with a big 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system taking the centre stage.

Under the hood, the Cayenne Base variant gets a 3.0-litre single-turbo V6 that makes 335 bhp and 450 Nm of peak torque. The E-Hybrid variant also packs a 3.0-litre V6 but comes paired with a 14.1kWh battery for a combined output of 462hp and 700Nm of torque. The Cayenne E-Hybrid can be driven in an all-electric mode for a range of up to 44km.

Porsche had already started taking bookings for the new Cayenne and the deliveries are expected to commence soon after this launch.
