With One mega sale competition in the pocket and other coming up soon, Flipkart is all set to rule the offline world as well. To reach upto to maximum people, Flipkart is soon starting its offline stores in tier II/III cities (some may call it as rural areas!)
According to the techportal report, Flipkart’s engineering head Ravi Garikipati has confirmed that the company is working on the assisted commerce idea and that it is still at an early stage. He said, “Basically we want to have some sort of a connect with the offline world as well—this is one of our upcoming initiatives, but it’s not something that’s out there yet. As we are looking ahead and trying to grow the market and win over the next 3-5 years, there are a few things we need to do.”
But Flipkart isn’t the only one, Amazon India has started this process back in 2014 and its in developing stage. Amazon India launched its offline shopping initiative called Udaan. Under this initiative, the company selects and trains local entrepreneurs to showcase its products in smaller cities and towns as well as in pockets of metros where Internet connectivity is poor.
