25 February, 2016, India: Xiaomi is again ready to dazzle the global market with its Mi5 handset. The company unveiled its gadget in Barcelona at ‘Mobile World congress 2016’. The handset will be hitting the Chinese market on 1st March, 2016.

Elaborating on the launch of the handset, Hugo Barra, VP, Xiaomi informed, “The Mi 5 will be launching in India shortly after its release in the Chinese market. Following the India launch, the Mi 5 will also be launched in a few other ‘global markets’.” However, VP didn’t reveal any further details regarding the launch. The market speculations suggest that the company will be keeping the handset away from the US market.

The Mi5 runs on latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset like other mainstream flagships. The handset comes in two types of model 3D glass and 3D ceramic body and features a 5.15-inch display with 1080 x 1920 resolution Full HD display with a 16-LED backlight.

In terms of memory, the Mi 5 comes with either 3 or 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB or 64GB of on board storage, depending on the variant. The Mi 5 Pro variant on the other hand will be available 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128GB UFS 2.0 internal memory.
