Samsung unveiled a range of new devices in the Samsung Unpacked 2018 event in New York. The company launched its new flagship smartphone – Galaxy Note 9, a smartwatch – Galaxy Watch, and a smart speaker – Galaxy Home, which will feature Bixby.

Samsung also announced that it has entered into a partnership with Spotify, which means that soon, Spotify integration will come to Samsung devices.

Design

As far as its look or design is concerned, the Note 9 has a metal frame sandwiched in between two glass sheets, one at the back and another at the front. It features curved glass so that its design looks different and stands out in the crowd.

It has a 6.4-inch QuadHD+ (2960x1440p) super AMOLED display. The pixel density is 516 ppi.

The smartphone has a horizontal dual camera setup. The primary camera has the dual aperture. It has 12 MP sensor with impressive f/1.5 and f/2.4 aperture. The second camera has a telephoto lens of 12 MP with f/2.4 aperture. The second camera offers 2x zoom. OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) is present on both the camera sensors.

The front camera has 8 MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture. Samsung has added some new features in the camera software and now it offers AI features like Scene Optimizer.

S-Pen

Apart from these, the Note 9 has S Pen. the company has added Bluetooth support to S Pen and now users can use S Pen as a remote control for their phones. Users can activate the camera shutter, control music playback, unlock their phone, and launch apps by using the Bluetooth feature of S Pen.

The S Pen could turn out to be one of the main attractions and a defining factor for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

Battery

The Note 9 has a 4000 mAh battery to power it up. This is the largest battery among the Note Series smartphones. The chances of a battery fiasco like the Note 7 is highly unlikely. The smartphone supports fast charging and wireless charging. It has a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer purposes.

Processor

The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 in the US, while in India and other markets, it will be powered by Exynos 9810 SoC. The Snapdragon 845 is latest flagship chip launched by Qualcomm. We have seen many flagship devices (even Samsung Galaxy s9) using this chip, the performance is expected to be good. The Exynos 9810 is Samsung’s in-house chip. Both Snapdragon 845 and Exynos 9810 are built using 10nm technology.

Price and Storage Space

The smartphone has two storage variants. The base variant has 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage. the other variant has 8 GB RAM and  512 GB internal storage. 512 GB internal storage in smartphones is a rare thing. The smartphone also has microSD card slot. The 128 GB variant is priced at $999.99 (about ₹68,830). The 512 GB variant is priced at $1249.99 (about ₹86,030).

The pre-order will begin on August 10 in US. And the sale will start form August 24 in US.

Galaxy Watch

Galaxy Watch

Samsung also launched a new smartwatch with fresh branding. The Galaxy Watch has 3G/LTE connectivity. Also, the watch charges wirelessly. The company has launched the two models of the smartwatch – a 46mm silver watch and a 42mm black and rose gold variant.

The 42mm variant has 1.2 inches and 46mm variant has 1.3 inches Super AMOLED touch display with Gorilla DX+ glass. Both variants are IP68 certified. They have 5 ATM water resistance. The 42mm variant has 270 mAh battery and the 46mm variant has 472 mAh battery. Both variants run on Tizen OS 4.0 They have Exynos 9110 dual-core 1.15 GHz processor.

The 3G version of the 42mm variant is priced at $329.99 (about ₹ 22,722), and the 3G version of the 46mm variant is priced at $349.99 (about ₹24,099). The price of the LTE version is not known yet.
