OnePlus has launched it’s next flagship smartphone – OnePlus 6T. The company has improved some things on the smartphone. Let’s take a quick look on OnePlus 6T and see what it offers.

Design

The OnePlus 6T has a glass back. The Notch has shrunk. The 6T has a water-drop Notch. The smartphone is little bit thicker than OnePlus 6. The smartphone has an in-display fingerprint sensor.

OnePlus 6T

The power button and alert slider is present at the right side the smartphone. At top, the secondary mic is present. The volume rocker button and SIM Tray are placed on the left side of the smartphone. There is no Micro-SD card slot for expandable storage (same as OnePlus 6).

OnePlus 6TAt bottom, the smartphone has primary mic, speaker and USB Type – C. There is no Headphone Jack (although the smartphone is thicker than OnePlus 6). The company has given explanation that they used the space of headphone for in-display fingerprint sensor, but this doesn’t suit the ‘Never Settle’ tag-line of the company as users have to compromise.

The smartphone has Gorilla Glass 6 at front for protection.

The smartphone has two variants right now – Midnight Black and Mirror Black.

Display

OnePlus 6T

OnePlus 6T has a 6.41 inch Full HD+ Dosplay. The resolution of the display is 2340×1080 pixels. The pixel density is 402 ppi. It has the screen aspect ratio of 19.5:9. the smartphone has 86% screen-to-body ratio.

Processor and GPU

The OnePlus 6T has the same processor as OnePlus 6 – Qualcommm  Snapdragon 845. The Snapdragon 845 had performed well on OnePlus 6, and it is expected to do the same on the it’s T variant.

The smartphone has Adreno 630 GPU for graphical tasks.

Battery

The OnePlus 6T has 3700 mAh battery, which is an improvement over the 3300 mAh battery present in OnePlus 6. The smartphone supports fast charging and the company has bundled a fast charger in the box. The charger is quite fast.

RAM and Storage

OnePlus has increased the storage on the base variant. Now, the base variant has 6 GB RAM and 128 GB Internal Storage. There is also a 8 GB RAM + 128 GB Internal Storage variant. The highest variant has 8 GB RAM and 256 GB Internal Storage. The storage is UFS 2.1 storage.

Camera

OnePlus 6T

The OnePlus 6T has dual rear camera. The primary rear camera is a 16 MP camera with f/1.7 aperture. The primary rear camera has pixel size of 1.22 µm. The primary rear camera has OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization).

The secondary rear camera is a 20 MP camera with f/1.7 aperture. The secondary rear camera has pixel size of 1.0 µm. A Dual LED flash is present at back to assist the rear cameras in low-light photography.

The rear camera can record videos up-to 4k 60 fps. It supports 480 fps slow-motion videos.

The smartphone has a 16 MP front camera. The front camera has f/2.0 aperture. The front camera has pixel size of 1.0 µm. EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) is present on the front camera.

Software

OnePlus 6T runs on OxygenOS 9 based on Android Pie.

Security

The smartphone has an in-display fingerprint sensor and face-unlock option. The in-display fingerprint sensor is fast, but not as fast as the traditional fingerprint sensor present in OnePlus 6.

The face unlock works well.

Pricing

In India, the base variant (with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB Internal Sorage) is priced at ₹37,999. The 8 GB RAM + 128 GB Internal Storage is priced at ₹41,999. The highest variant with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB Internal Storage is priced at ₹45,999.

IN US, the base variant (with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB Internal Sorage) is priced at $549. The 8 GB RAM + 128 GB Internal Storage is priced at $579. The highest variant with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB Internal Storage is priced at $629.

Overall

There are some improvements over OnePlus 6. However, those users who were expecting flagshop features like IP Protection, Wireless Charging, Quad-HD Display might be disappointed with OnePlus 6T. But, the device is a package (well if removal of headphone jack is not a deal-breaker for you). The in-display fingerprint sensor is a good addition but it would have been much better if the company had not ditched the headphone jack.

If you own OnePlus 5T or 6, then buying OnePlus 6T might not be a worthy upgrade, you should probably wait for One Plus 7 (or maybe OnePlus 7T for 5G stuff). If you have own OnePlus 5 or something below that and want to buy new OnePlus device, then you can go with OnePlus 6T.

If you are not an OnePlus 6T, then take a look at market offerings before buying. You can also wait for sometime, as the launch of Snapdragon 855 is not too far.
