PayTm Appoints 2 Citi Executives For Its Payments Bank

16 May 2016, NOIDA: Online marketplace PayTm has appointed Ruchita Aggarwal and Priya Karnik to head banking operations and to head product development for banking operations respectively.

Both Ruchita Aggarwal and Priya Karnik had experience working with Citi prior joining PayTm. While Ruchita Aggarwal was working with Citicorp Investment (Singapore) as Director & Singapore Head – Regional Product Sales, Priya Karnik was Director – Citi Treasury and Trade Solutions Client On-boarding.

According to sources and reports by ET, Priya Karnik said “Joining PayTm gives me an unparalleled opportunity to work with some of the most well-known industry thought leaders who are trying to implement something new and unique”.

Meanwhile, vice president at PayTm, Amit Sinha said, “The Company is committed to keep enhancing our services and product portfolio. We are confident that with Ruchita Aggarwal and Priya Karnik on board, we will be able to achieve greater growth and success”.

Found by Vijay Shekar Sharma, PayTm kick-started as a mobile recharge site and utility bill payment platform in 2010.  Being a consumer brand of India’s leading mobile internet company ONE97 Communications,  PayTm expanded its offerings with wallet payment and wallet to wallet and wallet to bank transfers for many leading internet based companies like Bookmyshow, Makemytrip, FoodPanda, IRCTC and many others.

PayTm also partnered with PVR to venture into movie ticket booking and has also raised $400 million to develop its new payment bank. It is also on the outlook of recruiting 3000 employees for its payment banking business.
