Social travel commerce startup Airblack, a company which uses the social media to connect the new age travelers with the help of travel influencers, has now secured $1.5 Million in the funding round of Seed from the SAIF partners.
The startup aims to use the funds to launch and refine their consumer product which is as of now in the beta mode and expand the core team.
“We saw there is a strong social need in travelers here to talk to other travelers before making purchase decisions, and an aversion to talking to travel agents because they are not relatable to this audience. We are focused on creating a strong trust layer in this category,” Videt Jaiswal, co-founder, Airblack, said. Airblack builds on the social behavior of today’s travelers, who largely plan vacations based on recommendations and suggestions from friends and influencers on social media. The platform has already helped more than 1,000 travelers with their plans by connecting them to micro-influencers through WhatsApp and Instagram.
The investment is also a rare one for the SAIF partners, a firm that rarely takes bets at such an early age startups. The VC firm had also earlier backed the ShareChat, Swiggy, Paytm and others.
