FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) Direct Selling Company Amway India has reinforced its alignment with the Government’s Skill India by conducting a series of training sessions for its direct sellers in association with RASCI (Retailers Association’s Skill Council of India).
The company held a three hours intensive training workshop in Mumbai in collaboration with RASCI for its direct sellers to certify them as ‘Individual Sales Professional’ a certification based on NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework) from NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation).
“The direct selling industry follows a non-retail format leveraging the communication and sales skills of the direct sellers. While the industry is growing at an exponential pace with lakhs of Indians have been leveraging the opportunity to become entrepreneurs, this certainly makes skilling important to maximize sales proceesds. Maharashtra is amongst the top 10 markets for Amway India, growing at a healthy rate and hence it is imperative for us to enhance the skills of our direct sellers to sell our products. Amway provides free training to its direct sellers which enables them to engage and educate the customers and offer the right products to them to suit their varied needs. Today’s workshop is a natural extension to empower our direct sellers and thus enhance their efficienciesm,” said Achinta Banerjie, Head of Sales, Amway India.
“Micro Entrepreneurship and self-employment through skilling are key priorities for the government of India. We too have aligned our training strategy with a focus on building competencies of our direct sellers to further the government’s agenda. I am sure, our association with RASCI-NSDC-Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will help us empower our direct sellers with Government recognized certification in line with Amway’s vision. As the leader in the FMCG direct selling space, we hope our move is taken up other direct selling companies in India,” said Rajat Banerji, Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Amway India.
In 2017, Amway India also partnered with IIM-C to offer a special course focused on entrepreneurship and leadership for its identified high potential direct sellers. Amway has also started working with U-35, targeting students in universities by training them with life skills which will help them foster a learning mindset, take value-based decisions and embrace future with confidence.
