Apple is in advanced talks with Government of India on setting up a manufacturing plant in the country, as per WSJ report. The company wishes to expand its sales presence in India and has sent a letter to the government seeking financial incentives to go ahead with the plan.

Last year in September, Apple CEO hinted about the same by meeting PM Narendra Modi and apparently Modi invited him to open a unit here.
Apple sales have been magnificent as compared to other countries and the tech giants have partnered Flipkart to sell iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in India. Macrumors stated, Apple doesn’t have the license yet to directly sell products to consumers in India. With Apple not manufacturing locally, iPhone prices are among the highest in India compared to the rest of the world. (Image- AP)
