Fresh job posts for important retail positions on Apple’s recruitment portal have created a stir in Hyderabad, indicating the tech giant’s intentions to open a new company-owned store there. Jobs like “Genius,” “Store Leader,” and “Senior Manager” indicate early-stage preparation for what may open as early as 2027.
Job Postings Signal Hyderabad Expansion:
Apple typically kicks off hiring about a year ahead of store launches, and these Hyderabad listings fit the pattern perfectly. The roles form the backbone of any Apple retail operation, handling leadership, operations, and technical support for customers.
This comes right as Apple gears up for another Mumbai outlet next month, confirmed by CEO Tim Cook and retail chief Deirdre O’Brien. O’Brien stressed the expansion reflects Apple’s “long-term commitment to India,” building on over 25 years of presence.
Hyderabad joins the lineup as Apple pushes deeper into urban hubs, eyeing its spot among India’s top five smartphone brands by volume. Strong channel push and premium reseller growth have already lifted shipments 28 percent year-on-year in 2025, per Counterpoint Research.
Apple’s Retail Growth in India:
The online store in 2020 marked the beginning of India’s retail journey. In 2023, flagship stores opened in Delhi’s Saket and Mumbai’s BKC. In September 2025, Apple Hebbal in Bengaluru and Koregaon Park in Pune were introduced, and in December 2025, Noida became the third location.
Now at five stores, Mumbai’s second will make six soon, and Hyderabad seventh. Cook called India a “huge opportunity” as the second-biggest smartphone market and fourth-largest for PCs, despite Apple’s modest share.
Record December quarter revenue for the iPhone, Mac, iPad, and services was brought in by Q1 FY26. Apple’s global revenue increased by 16% to $143.8 billion, with demand for the iPhone 17 driving up sales by 23% to $85.3 billion.
Cook noted most buyers are new to Apple products, signaling massive switcher potential. Installed bases hit highs in key markets, with double-digit growth in upgraders.
Driving Factors Behind Expansion:
Supply chains are diversified as a result of retail push and manufacturing expansion through partners. Despite trends of premiumization, the iPhone 16 led shipments in 2025 and achieved the biggest yearly share ever. The job specifications call for leaders who, even at a distance, motivate people, carry out plans, and represent Apple’s mission. Store leaders prioritize daily impact across locations, team building, and quality.
Hyderabad is a preferred location for high-end gadgets due to its technologically inclined population and rising wealth. Apple wants to establish a direct connection by providing interactive experiences that increase sales and customer loyalty. Although there are still issues like a small market share, momentum is growing. Cook emphasized the “terrific” quarter in India, where the uptake of iPhones, Macs, iPads, and Watches is being driven by new customers.
What’s Next for Apple in India:
Hyderabad store could operationalize early 2027, accelerating Apple’s footprint doubling. Mumbai’s imminent launch keeps the pace hot, reflecting “energy and purpose” in growth.
As competition heats up, owned stores boost brand superiority by assisting volume targets. Record sales validate investments on India as a key market, combining retail, manufacturing, and ecosystem strategies. Expansion shows confidence in the consumer transition to high-end technology, preparing Apple for long-term growth in this dynamic economy.
