Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy stated that the e-commerce giant is not close to adding Cryptocurrency as a payment option to its retail operation. Amazon.com Inc Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy claimed in an interview with CNBC on Thursday that the e-commerce giant is not close to integrating Cryptocurrency as a payment option into its retail operation.

He also claimed that selling non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on its e-commerce platform may be conceivable and that he expects NFTs to climb “significantly.”

Cryptocurrencies are digital assets that live on a blockchain. In 2021, NFTs have skyrocketed in popularity, with NFT artworks fetching millions of dollars. Jassy believes cryptocurrencies will grow in popularity in the long run, but he does not hold any bitcoin.

eBay Inc was the first e-commerce company to accept the sale of NFTs for digital items such as trading cards, pictures, or video clips on its site last year. EBay has also announced that it is willing to accept cryptocurrency as a payment method in the future.

An increasing number of businesses are accepting digital currencies as payment, bringing an asset class that was formerly rejected by major financial institutions closer to the mainstream.

Last year, eBay allowed the sale of NFTs for digital artifacts such as purchasing and selling playing cards, photographs, or video clips on its site, making it the first e-commerce company to capitalize on the NFT craze. eBay had also stated that it was open to accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payment in the future.
