Dailyhunt, which is an online platform that offers the news and some other content in Indian languages, has now acquired the LocalPlay which is a hyperlocal focused peer to peer platform for an undisclosed amount of funding.
Dailyhunt, which is operated by the Verse Innovation Pvt Ltd revealed in a statement that the acquisition would help boost its hyperlocal presence and even improve its offerings to its core users in the Tier – 2 cities and beyond.
Launched this year, LocalPlay offers its users to follow the news developments, events, classifieds, announcements and videos in Hindi.
According to the Google Play Page, its Android application has been installed over and above one lacs times.
The company was launched as a Newshunt by the former Nokia executives Chandrashekhar Sohoni and Umesh Kulkarni in the year 2009 and sold to Verse in 2012. It was rebranded as DailyHunt in August 2015.
