Compete with friends

One of the best things that you can do for your own fitness is to have an accountability partner. With the help of WatchOS 5, you will be able to challenge your friends to weekly competitions, apart from that you will also be able to track your friend’s progress.

Automatic workout detection

This is one of the biggest new fitness features, that is automatic workout detection. When the Apple senses that you are beginning a workout, it will easily suggest it starts tracking it. And at any point in time, if you forget to stop tracking when your workout is over, then the Apple Watch will detect the same and will automatically end it.

More workout modes

Apple has also revealed 12 new workout modes. For example, Yoga is now a recognized workout type. As is hiking which tracks your pace, elevation and heart rate.

New metrics while running

At the time of running, you will get new metrics at the time of the workout. For instance, while at the time of an outdoor run, the Apple Watch will keep track of all your mile pace.
