IBM has developed a technology for the gaze aware control of multiscreen experience. This technology will give a new dimension to the display technology. This technology is related to viewing the multiscreen and easing the user experience of the displaying device.
IBM has applied on 5th October 2015 for the patent of this technology. In this technology the two screens are co-related. It means that the output one screen will be paused until the user starts looking at that screen. In today’s world, there are large numbers of devices and many people do multitask.
So, for those people, this technology will prove to be very useful.
What’s new in this?
Suppose that you are watching your favorite movie on the TV in your home. But suddenly somebody important for example your boss calls you on your phone. Now you will have to choose one of the devices at one time and suppose you choose to switch to your smartphone to pick the call you will miss the content on the TV.

But, with the help of this new technology, you will just have to look away from the TV and it will automatically detect your movement. After detecting that the user is not looking at that device the movie will be paused and when you start looking back at the device then the movie will resume.
This will allow you to focus on both the screen without missing any content and will increase your viewing experience.
How does this work?
The computer system performs the operation based on the current gaze or focus of the user. According to the result, the output on both the screens is controlled. Now, whenever the user focuses on the first device then it detects that and performs the predefined operation and when the user focuses away it detects that and performs the predefined operation, for example, pause the video or anything.

In this, the content of both the screens is dynamically changed on the basis of the gaze or the current focus of the user. Now there are many technologies which can be used to determine the current view of the user. In some of the device, the eye-tracking technology can be used which will track the user’s current focus and provide the input to the processing device.
Each device has the embodiments disclosed within then which control the display on the screen. The embodiments disclosed in the main system may provide the information from the main screen to the handheld device on which the user is currently focusing on.
The action of the screen depends upon the predefined instruction that is given to the embodiments. The main thing is that all the device should be interconnected through some form of network. The network could be LAN or the WAN. The information is transferred through this network from one embodiment to the other.
Why this technology?
This gaze view aware control allows the user freedom to focus on multiple screens without missing the content on any of the screens. The user can use both the screen at the same without interruption or without thinking about the content being missed on any screen. This will increase the overall user experience of the display technology.
What’s next?
The next challenge for the IBM will be to choose the device that will use these technologies. There will be many challenges moving forward with this technology. All the devices that will use this technology will have to remain interconnected via some form.

The other challenge will be how this technology will be implemented in the real life. There should be some duration that should be fixed so that if a user looks for the small interval of time, the display will not be affected. Now we will have to wait and see how IBM goes with this technology and how the people will react.
