What are trusted connections on Roblox, and when was it launched?
Roblox officially launched Trusted Connections on July 17, 2025, to protect the privacy of users and also to provide added protection to young users. This feature is a part of the “Connections” system. It allows verified users aged 13 and older to communicate more freely with people they truly know, without leaving them to interact with contacts and accounts that may be unsuitable. If someone adds a contact as Trusted Connections, users unlock special perks like Unfiltered Text Chat and Party Voice. Here, the former is communicating without the standard Roblox text filters, and the latter deals with real-time voice chat within a private group.
If they want to prevent strangers from bypassing safety rules, teens can only add adults as Trusted Connections via real-life methods like QR code scanning or importing phone contacts to be sure.
Steps to add trusted connections on Roblox
If a user wants to add some contacts as their trusted connections, then they must follow these steps.
Verify Your Identity
As the First thing, users are made to ensure that they are 13 or older and have verified their age using a government ID in their Account Settings. This is a mandatory safety requirement for the feature to appear on your account and further safeguard your interactive sessions.
Open the Social Tab
To do this, Head to your Connect or Friends page on the mobile app and look for the “Add Connections” button, which will further reveal what’s to be done.
Choose Your Method
Now the screen will reveal two methods that you can choose from.
- QR Code – This is the easiest method if you are standing next to the person, and often the quickest. Here, one of you displays their unique code, and the other scans it using their phone camera. Once it’s done, it syncs up, adding them there.
- Contact Sync– You can also sync your phone’s contact list. If your friend’s phone number is linked to their Roblox account, they will show up as a suggested connection, and then you can decide if you want to add them.
Confirm the Invite
Once the request is sent from your end, the other person must accept it. Both parties need to have “Trusted Connections,” which have to be enabled in their privacy settings, for the unfiltered chat and voice features to work.
