Shiny Zeraora is one of the most sought-after Mythical Pokémon, and for good reason. Its striking design, powerful moves, and limited availability make it a true collector’s prize. If you’re trying to understand how people got Shiny Zeraora and whether you can still obtain one today, this guide breaks it down in clear, simple language. The goal is to help you understand the full timeline, how the distribution worked, and what options exist now. This article is written in human-like, easy-to-read Grade 12 English and formatted for clean readability.

Shiny Zeraora was made available during a special event in Pokémon Sword & Shield in June 2020. This event was tied to the release of the Isle of Armor expansion. During this time, Zeraora appeared in Max Raid dens across the game world. However, even though players fought it in Max Raids, the catch rate was locked at zero. That meant you could defeat Zeraora, but you could not catch it directly from the dens.

To unlock Shiny Zeraora for the community, a worldwide goal was set: one million total Zeraora defeats. Once that requirement was met, a bonus challenge activated. For every additional 100,000 defeats, players would receive one piece of Armorite Ore as a reward, up to a maximum of ten pieces. This encouraged the entire community to work together, and the goal was quickly achieved with ease.

When the final count was completed, over a million trainers around the world had defeated Zeraora. That meant the conditions for the Shiny distribution were officially met.

How Players Claimed Shiny Zeraora

Once the worldwide requirement was completed, the next step involved Pokémon HOME. This is where the actual Shiny Zeraora distribution happened.

To receive the Shiny Pokémon, players had to use the mobile version of Pokémon HOME. The process required them to either deposit a Pokémon into HOME or move one from HOME to Sword or Shield during a specific claim period. After doing this, players could open the Mystery Gift section within the HOME app. In the Gift Box, they would find a special gift titled “Victory over Zeraora” that contained the Shiny Zeraora.

Only mobile users could claim it, meaning the Nintendo Switch version alone wouldn’t work. Once the Pokémon was claimed in the mobile app, it could then be transferred into Sword or Shield for regular gameplay.

Stats and Moves of the Event Shiny Zeraora

The Shiny Zeraora distributed through HOME came with fixed details. It arrived at Level 100, making it ready for battle instantly without any extra training. Its nature was set to Hasty, which increases Speed at the cost of Defense. It also carried the ability Volt Absorb, the same as its regular versions.

The move set supplied with the event Zeraora included:

  • Plasma Fists
  • Close Combat
  • Blaze Kick
  • Outrage

These moves gave it great type coverage and made it a strong addition to competitive teams right out of the box.

Extra Rewards: Armorite Ore

Alongside the Shiny Zeraora, players also received Armorite Ore depending on how many total defeats occurred worldwide during the Max Raid event. Armorite Ore is a special item used in the Isle of Armor dojo. It allows trainers to teach new moves to certain Pokémon in exchange for pieces of the ore. Because the community surpassed the main goal, players were rewarded with the maximum amount available.

Can You Still Get Shiny Zeraora Today?

This is where many players get disappointed. The original Shiny Zeraora giveaway was a limited-time event, and it has not been repeated since. As of now, there is no official method to obtain a new Shiny Zeraora from events, raids, or HOME gifts. The window to claim it has long closed.

Because of this, the only way to get a legitimate Shiny Zeraora today is through trading. Many players who obtained the Pokémon during the event still trade it in online communities. However, it is important to be cautious. Due to how rare the Pokémon is, hacked or cloned versions exist and get passed around frequently. When trading, it’s smart to request details such as the Original Trainer information or screenshots to ensure authenticity.

While trading isn’t perfect, it remains the only real option unless The Pokémon Company decides to host another event involving Zeraora in the future.
