If you are wondering how to refund Atlas Points in Path of Exile 2, the answer depends on the current version of the game. Many players who reach the endgame eventually want to change their Atlas setup after making early choices. However, the system has changed significantly, and it no longer works like regular passive skill respecs.

Can You Refund Atlas Points In Path Of Exile 2?

At the moment, normal Atlas Points cannot be refunded in Path of Exile 2 version 0.5. Grinding Gear Games redesigned the Atlas progression system so that players can eventually unlock and allocate the entire Atlas Tree.

Because of this design, there is no traditional respec option for standard Atlas nodes.

Unlike character passive points, which can be refunded by spending gold, Atlas Points are meant to represent permanent progression. Once a regular Atlas node has been allocated, it stays active.

This change has surprised many players, especially veterans who expected the system to function similarly to previous versions.

Why Atlas Point Refunds Were Removed

The developers changed the Atlas structure to make it more about long-term progression rather than difficult choices that lock players into one path.

As you continue exploring the Fortress and completing maps, you earn additional Atlas Points. Eventually, you can obtain enough points to fill the entire Atlas Tree.

Because every node can ultimately be unlocked, the need for a complete refund system was removed.

The idea behind this approach is simple:

  • Continue progressing through the endgame.
  • Earn more Atlas Points over time.
  • Unlock more sections of the Atlas.
  • Eventually complete the entire tree.

Although this philosophy makes sense from a progression standpoint, many players still wish for more flexibility.

Which Atlas Choices Can Be Changed?

Not every Atlas choice is permanent.

Certain multi-choice nodes can still be adjusted freely. These nodes allow players to switch between available options without requiring a full Atlas reset.

Here is a simple breakdown.

Permanent Choices

  • Standard Atlas passive nodes.
  • Atlas pathing nodes.
  • Most regular progression nodes.

Flexible Choices

  • Multi-choice Atlas nodes.
  • Certain specialized selections connected to specific mechanics.

Therefore, before worrying about a mistake, check whether the node in question belongs to a multi-choice category.

How Atlas Points Are Earned

The Atlas serves as the main endgame system in Path of Exile 2. Progression revolves around completing maps and advancing through the Fortress.

As you continue clearing content, you gain additional Atlas Points that expand your options.

The process generally involves:

  • Entering maps through the Atlas.
  • Completing encounters and objectives.
  • Advancing through Fortress progression.
  • Unlocking more Atlas Points.

Since the system eventually provides enough points to complete the tree, players are encouraged to keep progressing rather than constantly rebuilding their Atlas.

What To Do If You Chose The Wrong Nodes

Making an early mistake can feel frustrating, especially if the selected nodes increase difficulty before your character is ready.

Fortunately, a wrong choice is not necessarily disastrous.

If you picked undesirable nodes, consider the following:

  • Stop spending Atlas Points randomly.
  • Save future points until you have a clear plan.
  • Change any available multi-choice nodes.
  • Focus on maps your character can comfortably clear.
  • Upgrade your equipment before attempting harder content.
  • Gradually work toward more useful sections of the tree.

Patience usually solves most problems. Additional Atlas Points will eventually provide access to better routes and rewards.

Does Doryani Refund Atlas Points?

Some players search for an NPC that can reset Atlas progression.

Unfortunately, Doryani does not provide a refund service for normal Atlas Points.

This causes confusion because character passive points can be refunded through other systems. Many players assume the Atlas works in the same way, but that is no longer the case.

At present, there is no vendor or NPC that allows a complete Atlas respec.
