Are you annoyed by the widgets on your Mac? Here is how we can fix it. Follow the guide to know how you can remove the widgets from your Mac desktop. So, let’s get started.
What are widgets?
Widgets are handy, mini-apps that live on your home screen or dashboard and stay there for instant access. Instead of opening a full application to check the view of your calendar or skip a song, a widget gives you that brief info and quick control right there on the surface. You can consider them as shortcuts, as that’s how they generally work. They can be rearranged, moved, and also given different shapes and colours, depending on your device. You can also remove them if they don’t seem very helpful to you. It’s a fun way to personalize your digital space.
Steps to remove widgets from the Mac desktop
If you want to remove the widgets from the Mac desktop, then these are the steps that you can follow.
Delete
If there’s just one widget bothering you, and you don’t want to make any changes in the other widgets, then you can pick and delete it. To do this, just right-click directly on the widget and select Remove Widget. It’ll disappear instantly from your desktop.
The Gallery Method
This is quite handy! Right-click any empty space on your wallpaper and select Edit Widgets. This opens the widget gallery, where you can make further changes. As the minus icon opens up and you feel like you have to remove a few of them, you can pick as many as you want.
Cleaning them all
If you want to get rid of all of them without deleting them one by one, you can choose to save time. For this, go to System Settings > Desktop & Dock. Scroll down to the “Widgets” section and uncheck the box that says Show Widgets: On Desktop. That should do it.
iPhone Widgets
This is another thing that can be the situation. If you’re seeing widgets from your phone that you don’t want on your Mac, you can toggle off Use iPhone widgets in that same “Desktop & Dock” settings menu.
These are some of the ways that can help you remove widgets from your Mac desktop. Most people do it to get their main screens more organized and sorted. If you are particularly annoyed by one or a few widgets, you can fix that problem as well. Depending on what you want, you can follow the steps and do the needful.
