Where Winds Meet features a unique progression system that prevents players from wasting experience points when they reach the level cap. Instead of stopping EXP gains entirely, the game converts any additional experience you earn into something called Stored EXP. This system acts like a reserve bank that holds the extra EXP you collect while you are temporarily unable to level up.

Stored EXP does not immediately boost your level. Instead, it sits quietly in the background and waits until your level cap is lifted. Once that happens, the stored amount helps you level up faster by providing bonus experience with every activity you do. This makes progression smoother, especially during the mid and late stages of the game where caps appear more often.
How Stored EXP Works
To understand how to use Stored EXP properly, you need to know how the system is designed. In Where Winds Meet, EXP caps appear in two major situations:
- When you hit your current maximum level before completing a Breakthrough.
- When you reach the daily leveling limit the game imposes.
After you hit the cap, every action that would normally give you experience still rewards you, but all that EXP goes straight into your stored pool instead of increasing your level. This happens automatically. You do not have to enable anything manually.
Stored EXP becomes active only when the game allows you to level up again. At that point, every time you earn normal EXP from quests or battles, the system adds a 50% bonus, taken directly from your stored pool. This bonus continues until your stored pool runs out or until you hit the next cap. Think of it as a temporary boost that helps you catch up quickly the moment the game lets you level up again.
How to Check Your Stored EXP
You can easily see how much Stored EXP you currently have. Open your main menu and look at your EXP bar. Right above the bar or next to it, you’ll find an expandable section that displays your character level and the amount of Stored EXP you’ve accumulated. The number may look very large, especially if you continued playing for hours while capped. Do not be surprised—some players stack millions of points without realizing it.
When You Gain Stored EXP
Stored EXP is collected automatically anytime you are capped. There is nothing special you need to do. You simply gain it by continuing to play normally. The following activities contribute to it:
- Completing story missions
- Finishing side quests
- Fighting enemies and bosses
- Exploring new areas
- Clearing dungeons or repeatable activities
- Completing puzzles and challenges
As long as you are doing something that normally gives experience, it will go into the reserve pool while you are capped.
How to Use Stored EXP Effectively
Using Stored EXP efficiently requires understanding what drains it the fastest and what gives you the most benefits. Since the stored pool only activates when the cap lifts, and since it adds a percentage bonus to your normal experience, your goal should be to maximize the amount of base EXP you earn during that window. Here are the best ways to do that:
- Focus on High-EXP Activities First:
Bigger quests and major story missions offer significantly more base EXP than small fights. Since the bonus scales with your base gain, you want to start with the highest-value tasks. - Do Not Waste the Cap-Free Window:
Once the EXP limit is lifted, try to play at least a little. Your stored pool does nothing if you are not earning base EXP. - Stack Stored EXP Before a Breakthrough:
If you are approaching a Breakthrough or level-raising moment, it can be beneficial to gather more stored points beforehand. This ensures a smoother Boost period afterward. - Use Daily Activities Wisely:
Daily tasks often give large chunks of EXP. Doing them when your stored pool is active results in faster leveling.
