Apple Intelligence Enhancements

A standout feature in iOS 18.4 is the introduction of Priority Notifications. Powered by Apple Intelligence, this system prioritizes alerts that require immediate attention, ensuring they appear prominently at the top of your notification stack on the Home Screen. This enhancement aims to streamline your interaction with notifications, making it easier to focus on what’s most important.

New Emoji and Genmoji Integration

iOS 18.4 expands your emoji repertoire with a collection of new symbols, enriching your messaging and social media interactions. Additionally, the Genmoji feature is now accessible directly from the keyboard, allowing users to create personalized emojis effortlessly.

Apple News+ Food Section

Subscribers to Apple News+ can now enjoy the new Food section within the News app. This curated space offers a variety of recipes and food-related articles, including exclusive content for subscribers. Whether you’re a culinary enthusiast or seeking meal inspiration, the Apple News+ Food section serves as a valuable resource.

Photos App Enhancements

Managing your photo library becomes more intuitive with iOS 18.4. The Photos app introduces improved filtering options, enabling users to sort images by date modified and offering the ability to disable auto-generated albums like Recently Shared and Viewed. These features provide greater control over your photo organization.

Ambient Music Feature

A new Ambient Music tool has been added to the Control Center, offering playlists designed to enhance focus, relaxation, or sleep. This feature provides a convenient way to access soothing music directly from your device’s Control Center, contributing to a more personalized auditory experience.

Home App and Matter Support

iOS 18.4 brings support for controlling robot vacuums through the Home app via the Matter protocol. This integration allows users to manage compatible robot vacuums and incorporate them into automations and scenes across Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and HomePods. Manufacturers like Roborock, iRobot, and Ecovacs are rolling out firmware updates to ensure their devices are compliant with Matter and Apple Home.

Image Playground’s New ‘Sketch’ Style

The Image Playground feature now includes a ‘Sketch style, allowing users to apply artistic sketch effects to their photos. This addition provides a creative avenue for enhancing images directly within the app.

Expanded Language Support

Apple Intelligence now supports several new languages, including French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. Additionally, localized English options for Singapore and India have been introduced, making Apple’s AI features more accessible to a diverse global audience.

Additional Features and Improvements

  • App Store Review Summaries: AI-generated summaries of App Store reviews help users make informed decisions about app downloads.

  • Control Center Enhancements: The Brightness and Sound toggles in Control Center have been tweaked to change color when adjusted below certain levels, providing visual feedback on settings.

  • Podcasts App Widgets: New widgets for the Podcasts app can be added to the Home Screen, offering quick access to your favorite shows and libraries.

To update to iOS 18.4, navigate to Settings > General > Software Update on your compatible iPhone. This release underscores Apple’s commitment to enhancing user experience through continuous innovation and thoughtful feature integration.
