7 December, 2015, India: Tata Trust has joined hands with Khan Academy to deliver free world class educational resources in Mathematics and Science in local language. This five year partnership will impart quality education to the youth of the country.
Sharing his views on the partnership, Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Trust opined, “This is a concept which is refreshingly different, extending free education and knowledge to anyone, anytime and anywhere which can change the world of illiterate to literate. We expect this initiative to make a tremendous difference to the present and future generations.”
As per the partnership, first two years the academy will be concentrating on improving its content creation capacity in order to attract more middle and low income students in urban areas. After developing a firm platform in urban, academy will plan to spread its wings to the rural areas. Academy also planned to strengthen its staff by hiring more teachers. Apart from imparting knowledge to students, it will be developing an android-based smartphone app which will focus on major functionalities of a desktop experience and improving platform performance.
