Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has revealed plans to build the nation’s first Disneyland-style amusement park in Manesar, a move that could completely alter India’s leisure and travel scene. The 500-acre proposed mega project is ideally situated along the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor and the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, close to Pachgaon Chowk. Millions of people may travel there because of its ideal position, which guarantees smooth communication from Delhi and other large cities.
The announcement came after Saini’s meeting with Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Delhi. The Chief Minister described the project as a “game-changer” for Haryana, promising to bring economic, cultural, and social benefits not just to the state but to the entire country. The park is envisioned as a world-class entertainment hub, positioning the National Capital Region (NCR) alongside global destinations such as Paris, Tokyo, and California, which are home to iconic Disney parks.
Economic and Social Impact:
Officials believe the Disneyland-style park will have a transformative effect on Haryana’s economy and tourism profile. The project is expected to attract massive private investment, boost infrastructure, and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs. The entertainment hub is also likely to catalyze growth in the hospitality, real estate, and service sectors in and around Manesar and Pachgaon.
Chief Minister Saini highlighted Manesar’s proximity to Delhi, its robust infrastructure, and its status as a corporate hub as key factors in selecting the site. Gurugram, which is close to the proposed park, already hosts numerous Fortune 500 companies and is a major contributor to Haryana’s revenue. The upcoming 1,000-acre Global City project in Gurugram, designed on a walk-to-work concept, further enhances the region’s development potential.
Tourism industry experts have welcomed the integrated approach, noting that blending heritage, entertainment, and infrastructure could significantly increase Haryana’s tourist inflow. The government’s broader strategy also includes expanding the International Gita Mahotsav in Kurukshetra and organizing multiple editions of the Surajkund Mela annually, all aimed at redefining Haryana’s global image and building a world-class cultural and tourism ecosystem.
Political Echoes and Project Progress:
The Disneyland announcement has stirred political memories of a similar, but ultimately unsuccessful, attempt in 1989. Back then, the Om Prakash Chautala-led Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) government had proposed a Disney-style park over 28,000 acres in Gurugram, but the project was scrapped following intense farmer protests over land acquisition. Abhay Singh Chautala, INLD’s national president, criticized the current government for what he called hypocrisy, pointing out the BJP’s past opposition to such proposals.
Despite the political debate, state officials emphasized that land acquisition and administrative work for the Disneyland project are already underway. Discussions with global partners are progressing, and groundwork is expected to begin in the coming months. The government is also seeking financial support from the Centre to scale up related tourism initiatives.
Haryana’s Vision: Becoming a Global Tourism Hub
The Haryana government’s push for a Disneyland-style theme park is part of a larger vision to transform the state into a global tourism hub. By leveraging its strategic location, strong infrastructure, and market potential, Haryana aims to attract international visitors and position itself as a premier destination for entertainment and culture.
Chief Minister Saini expressed confidence that the project would not only boost Haryana’s economy but also enhance its cultural and social fabric. The Disneyland-style park, along with other major tourism initiatives, is set to redefine the region’s image and offer new opportunities for growth and development.
Residents and industry stakeholders alike are growing more excited as the project’s foundation is being laid. If it succeeds, Manesar’s Disneyland might establish itself as a major tourist destination, securing Haryana’s place on the world travel map and providing tourists from all across India and beyond with a whole new entertainment experience.
