18 December, 2015, New Delhi: Paytm, Noida based mobile payment and ecommerce platform has cracked down another healthy deal with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) of serving food to commuters though e-catering. Earlier, the company has inked an agreement with IRCTC for e-ticketing and now company is all set to stretch its arms in railways catering business.
Currently, IRCTC is running an e-catering service in an around 1,516 trains which don’t have a pantry cars. Through e-catering passenger can order station based ‘Food on Track’ facility installed around 45 stations. Right now, customers have two payment options first is cash on delivery and second is pre-paid payment.
Kiran Vasireddy, Senior Vice-President, Paytm said, “We are very happy to be associated with IRCTC in all their platforms. Our earlier association for purchasing tickets through Paytm wallet had a phenomenal uptake and growth. We aim to give the customers a great travel experience as they buy tickets and order food through Irctc’s e-ticketing & e-catering platform using Paytm wallet.”
Commenting on the development, Dr. A K Manocha, Chairman and Managing Director at IRCTC said, “In the new age it’s not just novel food options but also a convenient payment method that users look for. The association with Paytm is an effort in that direction.”
