For so many years, the iPad Pro has been redesigned as the go-to tablet for the creatives and professionals. Samsung is trying to come into the market, but the problem lies in the Android, which only offers a few tablet apps which are optimized. The Galaxy Tab S4 is looking to shake up the Android tablet with the Samsung Android desktop mode, which catapults the Tab S4 into the productive machine.

So, let’s compare Galaxy Tab S4 vs. iPad Pro (2017):

Performance, Charging, and Battery Life

Well, both the devices, Samsung Tablet S4 and iPad Pro should be able to handle all the tasks that you can imagine on the go. Regarding the processor, the Galaxy Tab S4 is powered and supported by Snapdragon 835 Processor. On the other hand, iPad Pro comes with the Apple A10C Fusion chip. And both the gadgets have 4GB of RAM which is enough for doing multitasking. However, iPad Pro does edge out a win because it has a more powerful processor than the Samsung Tab S4 Snapdragon 835.

When it comes to the battery life, Samsung has claimed that the new Galaxy Tab S4 should last for up to 16 hours of video playback on just a single charging. On the other hand, Apple offers a conservative 10 hours of charging with video playback. The Samsung S4 Tab has a battery capacity of 7300 mAh and iPad Pro has a battery capacity of 8134 mAh.

Design and Durability

Both the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and the iPad are gorgeous-looking tablets. As far as durability is concerned, the Galaxy tab S4 loses some points for its glass back and front (Gorilla Glass 3). While Apple iPad Pro has glass over the screen and aluminum on the back part, it does not support wireless charging.

Display

Samsung comes with a gorgeous Super AMOLED display, while the iPad Pro has a laminated LCD with a 120Ghz refresh rate and color adjusting technology. The high refresh rate makes scrolling through the apps smooth.

Camera

The Samsung Tab S4 has a 13-megapixel camera on the rear and an 8-megapixel camera placed on the front. On the other hand, iPad Pro has a 12-megapixel camera on its rear part and a 7-megapixel selfie camera. Cameras are pretty similar in both the devices.

Software and Updates

Samsung has brought its DeX mode on the Galaxy Tab S4 that creates a desktop-like Android experience on the tablet. But, iPad Pro still relies on the iOS, which can be a great challenge for productivity. The iPad Pro also has a few multitasking features like drag and drop and split screen, but the Samsung DeX mode seems to give a more comfortable seamless experience.

Special Features

When it comes to special features, Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and iPad Pro have one major and common special feature – The S pencil and the Apple pencil. Both the styluses allow the user to draw, take notes, and sign documents. The Samsung’s newly updated S pen allows you to find a button that opens a list of frequently used apps for quicker access.

The Apple pencil cost $100, and you need to charge it as well. The S pen comes with the Samsung Tab S4, and it does not need charging.

Speakers/Sound

Well, when it comes to sound quality, the Samsung Tab S4 offers a quad speaker setup that is sure to please the average listener. Samsung Tab S4 offers speakers which are tuned by the AKG with Dolby Atmos Sound.

The iPad Pro, on the other hand, also has a quad speaker setup which sounds great and can get plenty loud. On the sound department, Apple iPad Pro takes the win from the Samsung Tab S4.

Price

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4’s 64GB storage model has been priced at $650, while its 256GB storage variant has been priced at $750. An LTE version is also available, but the pricing is still not available for it. Both the models will be available on the 10th of August.

The iPad Pro 10.5 inch comes at the cost of $650 for the 64GB storage model, $800 for the iPad Pro 256GB storage model, and a whopping $1000 if you want to increase your storage to 512GB.

Conclusion

The iPad pro takes the crown of the best tablet. From its slightly more durable design to its superior ultra-processing power, the iPad Pro is the first choice when it comes to a pro tablet. Samsung Tab S4 is also a great tablet which has a new DeX mode that shows a lot of potentials. If it works well with third-party apps, it can be an extremely good substitute for laptops.

Are CVT Transmissions Reliable? What Drivers Need to Know Before Buying

Continuously Variable Transmissions, better known as CVTs, have become one of the most debated features in modern cars. They are praised for fuel efficiency and smooth city driving, but many buyers still hesitate when they see CVT listed on a spec sheet. The short answer is yes, CVTs can be reliable. But reliability depends heavily on the manufacturer, model year, driving habits, and maintenance history. A well-designed, properly maintained CVT can provide years of trouble-free service. A neglected one can become an expensive headache. Unlike a conventional automatic transmission, which uses fixed gears, a CVT uses variable pulleys connected by a steel belt or chain. This allows the engine to stay within its most efficient rev range, helping improve fuel economy and reduce jerky gear changes. The trade-off is that the system can be more sensitive to heat, fluid condition, and heavy loads. Why CVTs Earned a Mixed Reputation CVTs did not gain their reputation overnight. Some early models, particularly from the late 2000s and early 2010s, experienced issues such as overheating, hesitation, shuddering, and premature failure. Nissan’s older CVT-equipped cars are often mentioned in these discussions, and those experiences shaped public perception of the technology. However, it is important not to judge every CVT by the same standard. Modern versions have improved significantly through better cooling systems, updated software, stronger internal components, and more refined calibration. Brands such as Honda, Toyota, and Subaru have also continued to improve their CVT systems over time. Toyota’s hybrid e-CVT deserves a separate mention. Despite the name, it works differently from a belt-driven CVT and has developed a particularly strong reputation for durability in hybrid vehicles. Maintenance Makes the Biggest Difference A CVT is not a fit-and-forget component. The transmission fluid plays a crucial role because it lubricates the internal parts, controls hydraulic pressure, and helps manage heat. When the fluid becomes old or contaminated, the belt, pulleys, and bearings can wear faster. Many specialists recommend changing CVT fluid between 30,000 and 60,000 miles, depending on the vehicle, driving conditions, and manufacturer guidance. A drain-and-fill service is generally preferred over an aggressive pressurised flush. Using the exact fluid specified by the automaker also matters, as CVT fluids are not interchangeable with regular automatic transmission fluid. Drivers who regularly tow heavy loads, drive in extreme heat, tackle steep roads, or spend long hours in stop-start traffic should be especially careful. These conditions raise transmission temperatures and place more strain on the system. Warning Signs Owners Should Not Ignore A healthy CVT should feel smooth and predictable. If the car begins to shudder while accelerating, produces a new whining noise, hesitates when moving into Drive or Reverse, or revs without gaining speed, it is worth getting checked quickly. Ignoring early symptoms can turn a manageable fluid, sensor, or software issue into a full transmission replacement. That is where CVTs can become costly, because many units are replaced rather than rebuilt. The Verdict CVTs are not automatically unreliable, and they are not automatically the best choice for every driver either. For everyday commuting, city use, and fuel-conscious buyers, a modern CVT can be a sensible option. It delivers smooth performance and often better fuel economy than a conventional automatic. For buyers who tow regularly, drive aggressively, or want a transmission built for high torque and hard use, a traditional torque-converter automatic may still offer more confidence. The smartest approach is simple: research the exact model and year, check service records carefully, and do not skip CVT fluid maintenance. The badge on the car matters less than the engineering behind it and the care it receives.
