Social Media platform Twitter has appointed IIT-Bombay alumnus Parag Agrawal as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Parag Agrawal joined the social media firm in 2011 as an Ads Engineer. Agrawal will succeed Adam Messinger as CTO. Adam Messinger left the social media firm in late 2016.
Prior to joining social media firm, Parag Agrawal worked with AT&T Labs, Microsoft Research, and Yahoo.
The appointment was announced internally in October 2017, it has been publicly revealed by the platform only now.
A Twitter spokesman told CNBC, “In his capacity as CTO, he’s focused on a cohesive machine learning and AI (Artificial Intelligence) approach across our consumer and revenue product and infrastructure teams.”
Recently, Twitter announced that it is planning to hire a Director of Social Science to “increase the collective health, openness and civility of public conversion” on its platform.
