After quite a long teaser game, Skoda has finally revealed the Kodiaq RS performance SUV just a day ahead of the 2018 Paris Motor Show. The Kodiaq RS was under development for a long time and the automaker seemed really excited for the model. And the wait wasn’t quite worthless either.
The 2.0-liter TDI biturbo diesel engine under the hood of the Kodiaq RS is the most powerful diesel engine from Skoda with about 237 HP of power and 500 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic that transfers the power through an all-wheel drive system.

The power converts into performance too. Skoda claims that the Kodiaq RS can go from zero to 100 km/h in 7 seconds flat, on its way to the top speed of 220 km/h. Kodiaq RS has also set a lap record of the fastest seven-seater SUV at the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife, finishing the lap in 9 minutes and 29.84 seconds.
To distinguish the RS from the standard Kodiaq, there are a number of cosmetic changes in the exterior and interior of the car. First is the red RS logo that marks the performance version of the car. Also the SUV comes with large 20-inch alloy wheels as standard. Inside, Kodiaq RS gets virtual cockpit, sportier flat-bottom steering wheel, Alcantara-wrapped seats and LED ambient lighting. The SUV can be had in five or seven seat options.

Skoda previewed the Kodiaq RS at the 2018 Paris Motors Show and the SUV will make its public debut right away when the show officially opens. Skoda’s CEO, Bernhard Maier, said at the launch, “The Skoda Kodiaq RS is the new spearhead in our SUV offering and, at the same time, our first RS model in this car segment. Its biturbo engine producing 240 PS is the most powerful diesel engine in Skoda’s history combining the efficiency of modern, clean diesel engines and the performance of a sporty SUV.”
