Nintendo and Aspyr Media are bringing Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic II to Switch on June 8. There are plenty of Star Wars games to look forward to right now, including BioWare’s acclaimed Knights of the Old Republic remaster (which coincidentally released on the Switch last year, too). In addition to the recent ports on Android, iOS, and now the Nintendo Switch, there is a remake currently in the works for Knights of the Old Republic. It is not known at this time what developers are attached to the new project, only that Bioware the company behind the 2003 title is not involved.

According to the announcement trailer released this week, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic II is coming to the Nintendo console on June 8. In other Star Wars news, the remake of the first Knights Of The Republic game is being developed for PS5. Disney confirmed Aspyr would be bringing a celebrated Star Wars title to Nintendo Switch, according to reports, and would drop DLC for the restored content.

Aspyr has indeed confirmed that this release for the original KOTOR title will have a few pieces of previously unseen content. Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic II Switch port will also receive a free DLC pack after release called The Sith Lords Restored Content, which will feature new dialog and interactions with the crew, a bonus quest featuring HK-47, and a newly remastered ending. In addition to everything from the original game, this one also offers higher resolution, better optimizations, and also the famous restoration of the Sith Lords’ content.

The news was shared at the Star Wars Celebration, with teaser trailers giving an overview of the game in action, as well as the promise of the Restored Content DLC coming very soon. According to developer Aspyr, the Nintendo Switch version of the game will be coming with an all-new, feature-free, post-launch DLC containing never-before-seen content from the original game. More importantly, though, Aspyr Media is also going to be publishing Sith Lords Restored Content DLC as a free, post-launch upgrade for the game.

Just like the first game, this new release will feature HD cinematics, textures, and user interfaces, to keep it relevant on Nintendo Switch’s current screens. The sequel is being ported by Aspyr, a studio responsible for bringing KOTOR to Linux and OS X, and for its PC release in 2015 on Steam. The implication is that, although PC players will be able to download and play a free restored content mod, Nintendo Switch players will have the same options, although DLC is not necessarily going to be available the day it is released.
