14 June 2017, India:
Jeff Bezos-led Amazon Inc. might acquire hyperlocal delivery service provider BigBasket to gain a market grip in India.
The discussions are at an early stage and may not lead to a sale as per the report by ET. Surprisingly, there were talks of a possible merger between BigBasket and Grofers but if Amazon seals the deal the merger will less likely happen.

BigBasket is focused on setting up new warehouses, strengthening the cold chain and setting up facilities for reprocessing of Fruits & Vegetables.
