Leaks suggest that Apple’s new MacBook Pros have just been launched—without Apple’s announcement: Some leaks from Russia. Now, two Russian YouTubers have previewed what seems to be Apple’s 14 inch MacBook Pro with an M4 chip. Apple hasn’t even come out and named these laptops officially!
The Russian Unboxings
At the weekend there occurred an interesting incident. Another familiar figure in the tech journalism niche is Mark Gurman from Bloomberg who pointed to the YouTube video uploaded by the Russian channel Wylsacom. In the video, they opened what appears to resemble the new 14-inch MacBook Pro. As the host rips open the packaging, you cannot help thinking to yourself, “Hang on a second, hasn’t seen this before?” And you would be right because the packaging seems almost identical to last year’s MacBook Pro with the M3 chip. The mere cover looks exactly like before – can you believe Apple is consistent?
The video also takes it a notch higher with the host demonstrating part of setting up the new MacBook and even running some Geekbench tests. If you are new to Benchmarks then let me explain that Geekbench is basically a test that gives you how fast the laptop is. They matched the performance of screens of the new MacBook Pro with a 2022 MacBook Air. They were reasonable – improving the numbers, but not enough to make you stand up in shock or awe. The new MacBook may just be what you expect it to be – an upgrade here and there but not a flashy device on the outside.
Another Leak, Same Story
If one leak was not enough to turn heads, another Russian YouTuber, Romancev768, followed up with his own video which he said was the new M4 MacBook Pro. This video gave a bit more information and when he pulled up the ‘About This Mac’ screen it was verified that the laptop in fact had an M4 chip. And that’s kind of a big deal because Apple has not said much to the world about these laptops at all.
This leak was labeled as ‘unprecedented’ by Mark Gurman and another leaker, ShrimpApplePro. ShrimpApplePro has also said of the situation that there are some sellers out there implying that they have 200 MacBook Pro laptops readily available for sale in their warehouses currently.
So what’s new with these MacBooks?
So what is the matter with these new Mac? There’s not much that is different about the styling compared to prior M3 models, but the huge change is the all-new M4 chip within it. You get more power and speed but you don’t see much of the difference unless you are blessed with a good pair of eyesight.
That’s why these leaks are so fascinating. If that is MacBooks seen in these videos then Apple might be more concerned with making improvements to performance as opposed to the looks. I’m not saying performance upgrades aren’t useful – they are – if you are that kind of person who needs their laptop to crunch numbers, edit videos, program or have 20 tabs open all at once.
The Waiting Game
Now, the big question: In the next few weeks, can we anticipate officially unveiled new MacBook Pros from Apple? According to rumor Apple might be planning to launch in November. So, if you are planning on adding more power to your MacBook, then you might want to wait a little longer.
Of course, these are still just leaks, fully realizing that it is impossible now and will be for a long time yet to contradict the words of the head of state. Only when Apple releases something official does it become clear. But lets be honest here—when two Russian YouTubers showcasing new MacBooks, which look pretty convincing, one must wonder if something is brewing up at Apple HQ.
Wrapping It Up
Well, perhaps, the next 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip might have been leaked in Russia. We’ve got unboxing YouTube videos, some geeky performance tests done on the product and yes the new chip which is confirmed but still no words from Apple.
