Fortnite is celebrating its ninth birthday, and the limited-time event has brought Birthday Cakes back to the island. If you are trying to complete the Birthday Quest that asks you to eat slices of Birthday Cake, the objective is simple once you know where to look. You need to eat four slices at Named Locations, and Fortnite OG is currently the most reliable place to complete it.
Where to Find Birthday Cakes in Fortnite
Birthday Cakes appear beside large decorative birthday cakes placed around the Fortnite OG island. The smaller edible slices are placed on plates around the main cake, making them fairly easy to recognize. They are floor loot rather than items you pick up and carry.
The important part is choosing a Named Location with a cake. Current guides point to locations including:
- Junk Junction
- Happy Hamlet
- Paradise Palms
- Pleasant Park
Cake spawns are fixed around the large birthday cake decorations, so learning one location can make future attempts much easier. Junk Junction is also a useful option because it sits away from the busiest parts of the island.
How to Eat Slices of Birthday Cake
Once you reach a birthday cake, look around its base for the individual slices. Walk close to one and use the on-screen Consume prompt. Your character will eat the slice immediately.
There is one important detail: you cannot store Birthday Cake slices in your inventory. They are consumed where you find them. Each slice restores 10 health and 10 shield, so the item also has a practical use during a match.
If the Consume prompt does not appear, check your current health and shield. Birthday Cake is a healing consumable, so you may need to take some damage or lose shield before the game allows you to eat another slice.
How to Complete the Birthday Cake Quest
The Birthday Quest requires you to eat four slices of Birthday Cake found at Named Locations in Fortnite OG. You do not need to eat all four from the same cake, although doing so can save time if the slices are available.
A simple approach is to land directly at a cake location at the start of a match. Search around the large cake, eat every available slice, and then move to another Named Location if you still need progress.
Remember that other players can consume the slices before you arrive. If a cake has already been cleared, do not waste time searching the same area. Rotate to another cake or try again in a new match.
What to Do If the Cake Is Not Working
The birthday event has had some early issues with cake availability in regular Fortnite Battle Royale and Zero Build. Reports indicate that the cake quest has been more dependable in Fortnite OG, where the slices are available as intended.
If you cannot interact with a cake in Battle Royale, switch to Fortnite OG and try the quest there. Also check that the Birthday Quest is active in your Quests tab. Temporary event content can sometimes roll out separately from the map decorations.
Birthday Event Rewards
Eating cake is not just a small healing mechanic. It is part of the 2026 Birthday Quest set, which contains nine objectives. Completing three quests unlocks the Choco-9 Cake Back Bling, six unlocks the Cake Crusher Pickaxe, and completing all nine unlocks the FNCS Sentry Back Bling.
The Birthday event is limited time, so it is worth checking the current quest timer before putting off the challenge. If you want the anniversary rewards, complete the required objectives while the event is active.
