Private about your like counts? Hiding it is easy. Let’s see how we can hide the total like count on your Facebook count and build better privacy than before. So, let’s get started.
Steps to hide the like count on Facebook
If you want to hide your likes on Facebook, then these are the steps that you need to follow.
- Start by opening your settings and then tap on your profile picture in the bottom right (iOS) or top right of your screen for your Android. Then you must scroll down, tap on Settings & privacy, and then select Settings.
- Find Reaction Preferences – Under the Preferences section, scroll down and look for Reaction preferences. It has a little thumbs-up icon next to it.
- You will find the choices in the next screen. If it is about the posts from others, then turning this on hides the total number of reactions on posts that other people share in your News Feed, Pages, and Groups. And if it is about your own posts, then turning this on hides the reaction counts on your own posts. This means that the other people won’t see how many likes you get when you share something on your profile.
- That’s all there is to it! And it is also reversible. To do this, you just have to flip these switches back and forth whenever you want. If you are on a computer, the steps are exactly the same. It follows the same icons and settings, and you just have to stick to them.
Can I see someone’s hidden likes on Facebook?
Well, to put it in a nutshell – No. You cannot see the total number of likes on someone else’s post if they have chosen to hide it. This is the bare minimum from the platform. Facebook enforces this privacy setting strictly on their servers, which means that their third-party apps or browser tricks cannot bypass it to reveal the hidden count. However, you can still see who liked the post. If you click or tap on the reaction icons beneath the post, Facebook will open a list showing the names of the people who reacted to it. While you will not see a final total number at the top, you could technically count the names on that list manually to figure out the exact number. It is a time-consuming process, especially if the list is long. Therefore, try to respect the privacy when someone hides the number with their choice.
