On iOS 18, making customised emojis is a creative and entertaining way to express yourself. With the most recent iOS 18 releases, Apple provides improved Memoji (custom emoji design) tools. Here’s a detailed tutorial on utilising iOS 18 to create your own emojis in 2024.

KEYPOINTS:
  • Launch the messaging app.
  • Select a thread to tap on or start a new message.
  • Put your description in the text field and start typing.
  • The prompt to “Create new emoji” will appear.
  • It will indicate that it is creating a new Genmoji based on your text by displaying an ovular bubble.

Step 1: Upgrade to iOS 18.

Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 18 before making any custom emojis. Take these actions:

  • Navigate to Settings.
  • To access Software Update, tap General.
  • Click Download and Install to see whether iOS 18 is available.
  • After the update is finished, you can begin making your own emojis.

Step 2: Launch the Messages app

The Messages app is the most convenient method to obtain Memoji creating tools:

  • Launch the messaging app.
  • Launch a fresh message or join an ongoing discussion.
  • Press and hold the Memoji symbol, which resembles a happy face surrounded by stars, located in the app bar above the keyboard.

Step 3: Make a Memoji

You can view your current Memojis, if any, by tapping the Memoji icon. To make a fresh one:

  • To start a new Memoji, scroll to the left and hit the plus symbol.

You may now personalise every feature of your Memoji. The sections that you can edit are as follows:

  • Skin: Select the freckles, beauty marks, and skin tone.
  • Hairstyle: A vast array of hair colours, textures, and kinds are available.
  • Head Shape: You can alter the age, face structure, and size of the head.
  • Eyes: Choose your eye colour, shape, and size. You can even apply cosmetics.
  • Change the colour, thickness, and contour of your eyebrows.
  • Nose & Lips: Adjust the colour and size of your nose.
  • Ears: Select piercings, accessories, and ear size.
  • Facial Hair: Add beards, mustaches, or goatees with various colors and styles.
  • Eyewear & Headwear: Accessorize with glasses, hats, and other headgear.
  • Clothing: iOS 18 introduces new clothing customization options, allowing you to choose different outfits and colors for your Memoji.

Once you’re happy with your creation, tap Done to save your custom Memoji.

Step 4: Make Emojis Out of Your Own Memojis

You may quickly use your customised Memoji as an emoji in messages now that you’ve developed it:

  • Repeatedly tap the Memoji symbol while composing a message.
  • Various animated expressions (such as laughing, sobbing, thumbs up, etc.) will show on your personalised Memoji.
  • To include any of these expressions as stickers in your message, simply tap on them.
Step 5: Use Memoji in FaceTime and Other Applications

You may use your personalised emoticons in FaceTime and other compatible apps in addition to Messages:

  • FaceTime: You may use your personalised Memoji as a filter by tapping the Memoji icon during a FaceTime call. Your Memoji will animate and replicate your expressions as they occur in real time.
  • Social Media: You can also share screenshots of your Memoji or use them in apps like Snapchat, Instagram, or WhatsApp.
Bonus: Sticker packs and animated memorjis

More Memoji Stickers that are created automatically from your personalised Memoji are available in iOS 18. These sticker sets are available via the Memoji area of Messages or the emoji keyboard.

Apple has also improved the Live Memoji function. This makes talks even more dynamic by enabling your Memoji to replicate your face motions in real time. Live Memoji may be used for messaging, video calls, and even short video recording.

Step 6: Make changes or start fresh memos

You may always go back and make new Memojis or alter the ones you already have:

  • Select the Memoji icon after launching the Messages app.
  • Tap the three dots (•••) after selecting the Memoji that needs editing.
  • To make modifications, select Edit, or choose Duplicate to create a new Memoji based on the existing one.

In summary

Creating your own emojis is now more creative and simpler than ever with iOS 18. A fun and unique way to express oneself across a variety of apps and platforms is to customise your Memoji. With Apple’s most recent update, you can now bring your own character to life, whether it’s through a simple sticker in a message or utilising your Memoji in a video conversation.
