Blocked someone on Gmail long back, but can’t find a way to unblock them? We’ve got you! It happens often, so don’t worry, there is a solution to this problem. Follow the guide to get your answers and know how you can simply add someone back on your Gmail account and remove the block. So, let’s get started.
What happens if one unblocks someone on Gmail?
When you unblock someone on Gmail, the block that one had built simply disappears. From the time you unblock them, any new messages they send will actually appear in your inbox instead of being automatically rerouted to your spam folder. That is to say, you could have seen their emails still while they were blocked, but they just moved to a different, less-active folder. Any emails they tried to send while they were blocked stay right where they are, or even sometimes get lost if you do not see them immediately or soon enough. And the best part is that the person won’t get a notification that they have been unblocked, though they might find out about it by some observation and a renewed sense of flow between the mails and messages.
Steps to unblock someone on Gmail
- If you have blocked someone by mistake or have just changed your mind about it, you can unblock them through these steps.
- Open Gmail on your desktop and look for the settings icon in the top right corner. Click on that and select See all settings to further see the hidden menu of the settings area.
- Once you are in settings, click on the tab labeled Filters and Blocked Addresses. This is the place! This is where Gmail keeps a running list of everyone you have blocked on your account at any time. You can have a look at all the contacts and see if you want to unblock more than one of them.
- Now scroll down to the bottom of the page to see a list of email addresses. Find the person you want to unblock and click the Unblock link on the right side of their name.
- A small pop-up will appear to confirm your choice, and they will be officially back in your account like before.
However, if you are using the mobile app, you usually have to find an old email from that sender.
To do this, just open the message, tap on the three dots in the top right corner of the email body, and select Unblock sender. This is much simpler, especially if you have or can find the required mail.
