Is there an app available to solve the Rubik’s Cube?

Yes, you can definitely do that. There are several great apps that can solve a Rubik’s Cube just by scanning it with your camera. CubeX and ASolver are the most popular ones that you can download from the Play Store or the App Store. Here, you basically show each side of your scrambled cube to the camera, and the app identifies the colors to generate a 3D step-by-step guide. They usually find a solution in about 20 moves! The official Rubik’s app, though, seems to be a much more sought-after method as it doesn’t algorithmize your moves, but rather gives the best solutions.

How to use an app to solve a Rubik’s Cube?

If you want to use an app to solve the Rubik’s Cube, we’ll get you started with some things that can give you a head start.

Pick the Right App

Look for the best-rated apps for the same purpose on the App Store or Play Store, whatever works for you. You can pick the official Rubik’s Cube app for the best results.

Find Good Lighting

This is an important step! If you’re in a dark room, the app might mistake one color for the other, often giving the wrong solutions. Try to bring it to a place with good light and then take a picture.

The 360 Scan

Open the “Camera Solve” feature. The app will prompt you to hold each face of the cube up to the phone. It usually goes in a specific order, but you don’t really have to do anything about it. Just make sure each square lines up with the on-screen grid.

Check for Errors

Before you click on “Solve,” the app will show a 2D map of your cube. If a color looks off, tap it and fix it manually. If the colors don’t add up, the app won’t be able to calculate a path or may do it wrong entirely.

Follow the Given Animation

The app will give you a sequence of about 20 moves. Use the “Play” button or tap through them one by one. Hold your cube exactly like the 3D model on your screen so you know it is on the right side.

And after you generate the results, you will get the roadmap to the solution. You can now move the cube to solve it.
