Applied Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Internet of Things (IoT) focused early stage venture fund- Pi Ventures has got onboard Shamik Sharma as a Venture Partner.
Sharma will work with portfolio founders to help them get past critical hurdles, design their product roadmaps and hire specialized talent as per the report by ET.
“With two decades of rich experience and business wisdom, Shamik is a great addition to the Pi team,” said Manish Singhal, founding partner at Pi Ventures. “His unique mix of deep and broad technical expertise, product design, and business experience will play a key role in enriching our investment decisions as well as be a welcome help for our founders.”
Started early last year, Pi Ventures is a fund focused solely on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Internet of Things startups. The venture firm was looking to raise funds to invest in technology startups that fell under the above categories.
With already 4 investments under their portfolio, Pi Ventures is looking to invest in 18-20 companies over a period of next three to four years. On probing what is the need of the hour of the Indian startup ecosystem between better funding environment versus better product/service quality, Manish says that we need a mix of both and we need more focus on the product ecosystem which includes startups, investors, talent among others.
