Elon Musk tweeted that Tesla will be having AI day #2 on August 19th. More updates on the ongoing projects or developments are expected. Last year the purpose was to attract talent to join the company.

Tesla has been working on the Supercomputer Dojo and on its self-driving software. Last year as Musk announced the Tesla AI Bot, there have been numerous predictions on the next step for Tesla. Like when it was said that Tesla will not just be an automobile maker, but also dominate in the robotics industry. Now, after a year, real updates are expected.

Tesla AI Day #2 on Aug 19. So many cool updates!

The company also held a battery day in September 2020, talking about future battery technology. However, it is the first time the company is having day #2 for any such event. Meanwhile, investors are closely watching the company’s moves.

The event is expected to be a recruitment event similar to last year. However, the most awaited part is where a sneak peeks of the Tesla AI Bot is expected. It was confirmed by Elon Musk that the Bot will be shown at the event. According to previous statements by Musk last year, the humanoid machine should be revealed by 2022.

Addressing problems

Tesla Full Self Driving technology is focused on making driving safer and more reliable. Reducing accidents and making things simple are some of the reasons for autonomous driving technology. However, Musk stated that the Optimus program is also extremely important for the company. This Bot could help deal with a labor shortage in performing menial or boring tasks, also dangerous ones for human workers.

The project is expected to have moved forward. In the first quarterly earnings call this year, Musk noted that the Bot program could be worth more than the current Tesla car business today. Tesla’s EV business amounted to be $789 billion market cap, so the predictions for the bot business could be considered optimistic. Musk said, “I was surprised that people did not realize the magnitude of the Optimus robot program. The importance of Optimus will become apparent in the coming years. Those who are insightful or listen carefully will understand that Optimus ultimately will be worth more than the car business, worth more than FSD. That’s my firm belief,”

While it is evident that Tesla has progressed effectively in the past year. A humanoid bot needs different expertise. As the company is still in the hiring process, it is most likely that the bot is not fully being tested or worked on in any manner. However, a prototype model was expected to be present at the event, unlike the last time when a human dressed as a robot was present.
