In celebration of July 4th, Google is offering new U.S. subscribers to its Play Music streaming service a four-month trial completely free of charge.
Play Music subscribers can choose from a library of over 35 million tracks, which usually costs $9.99 per month, so the offer amounts to a $40 saving and users can cancel the subscription at any time. The service is actually no different from a lot of other streaming music services out there. If you get the premium version you get access to a large amount of tunes, no ads, and you can listen to saved albums offline when you wish.
The main differences among these services are what albums are available for streaming and what artists are on the service. You might be able to find one fairly obscure or somewhat known band on one service, but not on another. One service might just have all the popular acts while another will have a mix and actually encourage your music discovery journey.
At any rate, Google is giving potential subscribers four months free before things switch over to $9.99 a month. It’s a promotion worth taking advantage of and who knows you might actual enjoy the interface. If you’re still on the fence, try it out but set an alarm for you to cancel the service at a certain time so that you’re not charged.
Google has rolled out the offer for users in the US. In addition, any current subscriber will not be able to avail it, as it is only applicable for a new subscriber. It is also not applicable to a user, if he or she had subscribed and paid for the services previously and had later discontinued it. The offer also does not include any Family plan. The Family plan will be available for the user after the four months of free subscription is over.
