Indian Startup Funding Slows In August As Yulu, Centricity Lead $139.5 Mn Weekly Raise

1 August 2017, India:

Snapdeal‘s former Senior Vice President of Finance Vivek Patankar has joined Travel Retail Company, Travel Food Services (TFS).

Prior to Snapdeal, he had an extensive stint at Unilever serving various verticals and his last role there was as Senior Finance Manager heading financial planning globally for a 50 Billion euro enterprise. Patankar is a qualified Chartered accountant and is an MBA graduate from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute in Management Studies.

One of the largest F&B operators in the travel retail segment, TFS offers the choicest spread of international cuisines and gourmet food. A vibrant and diverse portfolio of global partners and bespoke proprietary brands ensures an exhilarating F&B experience across airports.

Sharing his thoughts on his new role with TFS, Patankar said, “I am thrilled to join Travel Food Services, the leader in F&B across Travel Retail Industry, post working with global organizations like Snapdeal and Unilever. I hope to leverage my experience to set up world class best practices and partner in scaling up the business.”

Commenting on the appointment, COO and Business Head of TFS, Gaurav Dewan said, “Vivek’s experience of building financial infrastructure in a fast paced marketplace will add tremendous value to the company and our leadership team.”

Snapdeal is going through a tough time and will be laying off 1,000 employees which is about 80% of the total workforce. After calling off the merger with e-commerce giant Flipkart, Snapdeal founders Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal are rebranding the entity into a comparatively smaller yet effective- Snapdeal 2.0. They have the backing of the firm’s early investor Nexus Venture Partners. Snapdeal will be able to financially sustain itself with the sale of certain non-core assets, the firm said in its statement.
