Steps to hide marketplace listings on Facebook

If you think that you don’t want your friends to see your marketplace listings, then this is how you can do it on Facebook.

  • To begin, start by launching Facebook. Then tap on the Marketplace storefront icon and select Sell to start a new post.
Here you can add your photos, title, price, and other details that the customers would want to see.
  • Now, scroll to the very bottom of the listing setup page before continuing.
  • Once here, you have to turn on the toggle switch next to Hide from friends. This very icon takes care of everything for that.
  • Tap on Next and publish the item.
  • As the next step, you have to navigate to the Marketplace, tap on the user profile icon, and open Your Listings.
  • On the screen, simply find the item you want to modify and tap on the three dots icon next to it.
  • Select Edit Listing from the menu options and then scroll down to the bottom of the editing screen.
  • Flip the Hide from friends toggle to the on position and save the settings. You are all set!

Let us tell you that turning this setting on prevents you from sharing the listing to local buy and sell groups. The item will only show up in public Marketplace search results, never on your friends’ newsfeeds. There you have it!

Can I see my friend’s marketplace listing on Facebook?

Yes, you can see your friends’ Marketplace listings by default unless they manually choose to hide them when posting, just like you did. If they do not hide the post, their listings might show up normally in your regular newsfeed or when you browse Marketplace. You can also search for their specific name within the Marketplace to find items they have listed for sale. If not, you can also visit their personal Facebook profile, scroll down to their information section, and look for their Marketplace seller profile. This will give you the listings and more. If they have turned on the hide from friends toggle for a specific listing, that item will completely vanish for you, and you won’t be able to see it.  Also, the catch is that Mutual membership in local buy and sell groups can sometimes override restrictions if they post the item there.
