Why Forums Are Making a Comeback in the Age of Social Media

20 February, 2016, USA: In order to enhance its technology in machine learning and big data analytics, Slaesforce took a step forward and acquired PredictionIO. Company’s latest acquisition PredicitionIO is a startup which is based out of Palo Alto and had developed an open source-base machine learning server.

Salesforce plans to use some of the technology to build out Salesforce’s own machine learning capabilities as part of SalesforceIQ, both in-house as well as in products for Salesforce customers, the startup’s CEO and co-founder Simon Chan said in a blog post announcing the acquisition. But the company will also continue to serve third-party developers, he added.

The Slaesforce spokesperson has confirmed the news of acquisition by stating, “Salesforce has signed a definitive agreement to acquire PredictionIO, but don’t have anything to share beyond [PredictionIO’s] blog post at this point”. He denied elaborating further on the subject and added, “The detailed information will be given to the media once everything is finalised.”

Chan stated that the team of Salesforce including its co-founders Donald Szeto, Kenneth Chan and Thomas Stone will be joining Salesforce after the transaction closes.
