Sandy Munro checks out Rivian R1T with CEO RJ Scaringe. Munro appeared to be amazed and envisioned the teardown of the vehicle. The video included a test drive and some talks about the R1T all-electric pickup interior and multiple unique features.
According to the video, the presented vehicle had VIN number 1187. Currently, Rivian is ramping up production of the R1T. Last month, there were rumors about almost 200 units per week, suggesting that now a few thousand were made so far. We can see a line of almost 20 new trucks in a parking lot in the video.
Sandy Munro appears to be impressed with the vehicle and a high number of smart solutions. He noted that Rivian did not go cheap on the R1T. Some of the features, like the gate and bed cover, are more expensive than average. Munro and Associates will probably tear down the vehicle this year. The Rivian R1T is the first modern all-electric pickup, with an interesting quad-motor powertrain and double-floor battery, which alone would make it worth conducting a research project.
Rivian’s future vehicles
Scaringe also teased what he could of future vehicles we can expect to see from Rivian. The company is currently planning on investing $5 billion USD in a second manufacturing facility in the U.S. to scale production. The pair went on to walk and talk us through the R1T and some of its most significant features and functionality. Munro also took the R1T for a spin with Scaringe, giving us his impressions on how the truck drives and feels on the road. “I like it,” said Munro, impressed.
Scaringe admitted he wasn’t well-versed in hands-on demos on camera to Munro. One would be expectedly nervous especially with someone like Munro picking apart details of the R1T electric truck. Munro also told Scaringe his company had ordered an R1T, and will likely tear down the track. Overall, Munro said Rivian did not skimp on quality and parts for the truck.
Munro tore down some of the best cars in the world, to see the amazing engineering and the work behind the vehicle. Sandy Munro is an automotive engineer, who worked with General Motors, Ford, and many other automakers. Munro and Associates have been there since 1988 and continue to keep up with the upcoming electric vehicles as well. His videos on tearing down of Tesla vehicles like Tesla Model S, Model Y, and Model S Plaid are popular and often referred to by Tesla enthusiasts.
