16th March 2016, USA :Â Tesla is almost ready to bring full-electric cars to the masses, and we’ll get our first glimpse of the Model 3 on March 31. So far, the company has just released a teaser image through its Twitter account.
Tesla will begin taking reservations for its first affordable model at its showrooms that day with a $1,000 deposit required. Online reservations will commence in first week of April. Details about the Model 3 remain a secret, but it’s expected to be similar in size to the compact BMW 3 Series.
The Model 3 is widely viewed as a make-or-break vehicle for Tesla, which has so far focused on much more expensive models that have only sold in the tens of thousands — a tiny fraction of the millions of vehicles sold by major automakers every year. The 3 will rely on the so-called Gigafactory to meet its battery needs, a massive facility under construction in the Nevada desert that Tesla says will reach peak manufacturing capacity in 2020.
All we can do is wait and watch till 31st March and hope it’s not an April Fool gag.
