25 April, 2016, Bangalore: Bangalore University is gearing up to tackle the problem of paper leaks and this time the university will take assistance of Whatsapp to curb down the problem. According to the recent development, Bangalore University will make its undergraduate students to videograph the opening of question paper bundle and then send the recorded footage to the authority.
The university has taken this step after hearing lot of complaints about the paper leaks and it will execute its aforementioned move in the upcoming PU undergraduate exams which will start from 10 May in 182 centres. According to the university, most of the leaks happen by illegally opening the question paper bundle. By taking the latest move, the university will assure that the person follows a correct protocol while handling the question papers.
According to the report in Times of India, the bundles will be opened in every examination hall by the invigilator in the presence of a squad, chief superintendent, a girl and boy student. The students will check whether the bundles are intact, videograph the unbundling on their cellphones and WhatsApp it to the authorities. After videographing, the mobile phones will be in the custody of the authorities till the exam gets over. There’s a ban on cellphones inside exam halls.
As per the official data of the university, this year around 3.5 lakh students (2.5 lakh freshers) will be appearing for the examination. “Last month, II PU question papers were leaked. We don’t want such things to happen in BU; we hope videographing will help,” said KN Ninge Gowda, Registrar, Bangalore University.
